Condiments: A Love Story
Condiments! Oh, those wonderful accoutrements that serve as toppers, dips, or ingredients that really compliment a dish and make it pop. Can you tell we love condiments here at Flavor Bible?
Often when we reach for a condiment it’s in a jar… that we bought at the store. Now, there isn’t anything afoul in picking up a dressing or sauce to help get by in a pinch. I mean, who doesn’t have a bottle of ketchup or mustard handy to top a burger or dog during a weekend cookout? So let’s be clear, we are not here to shame condiment buyers out there. Besides, we think our hot sauce collection is an object of envy!
However, what we are here to do is show you that many condiments can be made very easily. Heck, many homemade condiments use items that could be considered condiments themselves as building blocks to create an entirely new condiment (see many creamy dressings that can be homemade).
So, before you stroll down the condiment aisle on your next grocery run come on in and take a peek to see if you can make some yourself. As an added bonus, you may find these handy homemade versions are all about flavor and lack the preservatives often found in their store bought counterparts.
