Red, White, and Blue Burgers

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Ground Round Or 80% or leaner ground beef
  • cup Crumbled Blue Cheese
  • 3 slices Bacon
  • 2 slices Tomato, thick sliced
  • 2 slices Red onion, thick sliced
  • 1 cup Green Leaf Lettuce, for topping Can sub other lettuce
  • 2 slices White American Cheese
  • 1 tbsp Sun Dried Tomato Aioli See link in post
  • 2 Hamburger Buns Any style, we used potato rolls
  • 1 tbsp Butter, melted

Instructions
 

  • Form 2 equal size patties with the ground round (or ground beef). Stuff equally with the blue cheese.

  • Preheat the grill to about 400°. Place the patties on the grill. On a griddle top or cast iron pan place the strips of bacon (see notes). Baste the buns with melted butter and place on the top rack.
  • Cook patties for 6 minutes on one side and flip. Flip the bacon at this time, too. Cook for an additional 4 minutes. Top with cheese slices. Move the buns to the main part of the grill. Cook for 1 - 2 additional minutes. Remove.

  • Assemble burgers. Layer ½ tbsp of aioli on each bun. Top with lettuce, tomato, and red onion. Top burger with bacon.
  • Close buns and serve with your favorite burger side.

Notes

If griddle top or cast iron pan is unavailable cook the bacon on the stove top, oven, or directly on the grill.
