With many great Latin dishes you will find potent flavor that is often complimented by just the right amount of heat. Sometimes it takes a little more than reaching for your nearest beverage to tame that heat. We’ve concocted a simple condiment – Cilantro Lime Avocado Crema – that will help cool down even the spiciest Latin meal.
(Side note: we are advocates of tall, cold, sudsy adult beverages to go with said meals!)
This avocado crema has versality. It will make your street tacos impossible to forget while also holding up well on a tortilla chip. The lime and cilantro are in a perpetual dance with the avocado and Greek yogurt. Once you see how quick and easy this recipe is it’s sure to become a staple on Taco Tuesday.
Simply prep the ingredients according to the instructions below and add to a food processor. Blend until smooth and creamy. Let it set in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes so the flavors can come together. It will get even better if you make it a day ahead of time.
TIP: Add the unsweetened almond milk (you can also substitute a standard low fat milk) last and use it to thin to a desired consistency. If the you run into a juicier lime it may call for a little less. Much of this is preference, though, as some like their condiments thicker and some thinner. We prefer to run the processor without the almond milk – or just a small amount – then add and re-blend as needed.

Cilantro Lime Avocado Crema
Equipment
- Food Processor
Ingredients
- 1 Avocado
- 1 container Greek Yogurt, plain Individual size, approx. 8 oz.
- ½ Lime, juiced and zested
- ¼ cup Cilantro Give or take, to taste.
- ¼ cup Sweet Onion, chopped Small enough to fit in food processor
- 2 cloves Garlic, whole
- ¼ cup Almond Milk, unsweetened
- Salt and Pepper To taste.
Instructions
- Add all ingredients in a food processor and combine until smooth. Cool in fridge and use with your favorite Latin dish. We suggest our Chipotle Portabella Street Tacos.
